Raising awareness for mental Health - R U OK? Day
Are they really OK? Ask them today.
That’s the message for this year’s R U OK? Day – Thursday 9 September. It’s a simple question that can make a genuine difference for someone who is struggling.
The R U OK? movement has been prompting people to start this important conversation since 2009. This year, with many people facing the added challenges of COVID-19, reaching out to others has never been more important.
There are many ways you can start a potentially life-changing conversation – or share supportive messages and information – while physically distancing.
Covid-safe ways to support R U OK? DAY include:
- hosting a digital event
- walking and talking
- creating an online conversation
- sharing information via email, social media and other online channels.
The charity is hosting its own R U OK? Day webinar at 12:30pm AEST to learn when and how to ask R U OK?.
Guest speakers include:
- Sam Mac, weatherman Sunrise and R U OK? Ambassador
- Katherine Newton, CEO R U OK?
- Ann-Maree Fardell Hartley, psychologist and suicidoligist.
Or you can hold your own online gathering. When you register your event R U OK? DAY will send you a pack with posters, invitations and conversation tips.
